Applications for licensing are managed by your local city or county government jurisdiction. Those agencies determine which ICC exam is appropriate for your license based on local code adoption.

How Do I get my ICC F14 Roofing Contractor License?

Frequently, contractors engaged in construction across multiple regions are required to successfully complete an exam in each respective jurisdiction. When contractors pass the ICC F14 Contractor Exam, they can be confident that their results will be recognized by numerous participating agencies. This uniformity also benefits building departments, as they can rely on a strong foundation for issuing practice licenses.

The exam assesses comprehension of building codes and establishes a benchmark for awarding practice licenses, maintaining a consistent standard across jurisdictions. This ensures that the test results hold validity across different regions.

In conclusion, standardizing the criteria for evaluating contractor proficiency brings advantages to contractors, building departments, and their clients. If you would like more details about ICC F14 Contractor Exams, refer to the ICC Standardized Contractor Exam Flyer or the Colorado Contractor Exam Bulletin.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Successfully passing an ICC F14  Contractor Exam does NOT equate to a practice license or a guaranteed license approval from local authorities. It’s crucial to consult the relevant building department for precise licensing prerequisites. Contractors must follow the specific procedures of the building department and fulfill all local licensing prerequisites to obtain a practice license.

The ICC F14 Contractor/Trades exam initiative operates as an autonomous testing program designed to furnish licensing agencies with insights into the qualifications of contractors and trades professionals. It’s important to note that participation in the Code Council examination program does not automatically ensure the issuance of a license by a licensing agency. Nevertheless, the Code Council examination program independently evaluates your expertise in the construction sector. Your examination outcomes might be employed by licensing agencies to fulfill testing prerequisites.

Upon successfully completing the examination, it is advised to reach out to the relevant jurisdiction to learn about any additional conditions necessary to obtain a license.

Obtaining this license authorizes you to undertake tasks related to roofing, re-roofing, roof insulation, and roof drainage. Our exam encompasses all the subject matter found in the resources permitted for reference during the test: the 2015 International Building Code and the 2015 International Plumbing Code.

F.A.Q.

Here are some of our frequently asked questions:

Are these the questions that are on the test?

No. No one knows that questions will be on the test and you don’t need to know the answers.  These tests will help you learn the book which is what you need to pass the test.

I pass the practice tests with no problem, now what?

Schedule your test by following the link above and get it on the calendar.  Some of these testing sites are booked months out, so it is best to schedule your test as soon as possible.

Once I pass the protored test, can I do licensed work?

Merely achieving success in these exams does not suffice for acquiring a license. Those seeking licensure must submit a license application to the relevant state or local boards and fulfill the specific conditions set by those authorities. It is recommended to thoroughly examine these prerequisites before taking the exam. The most comprehensive information about these prerequisites can typically be obtained by directly contacting the issuing board.

In many jurisdictions, license holders are obligated to undertake ongoing education on a yearly or biennial basis to ensure license renewal.

I can't pass the practice tests. Please help?!

Keep taking the tests and learning how to navigate the books.  The Table of Contents and Index are your best friends.

How come you don't bundle the books together with tabs like other websites?

There is no need to overpay for books and highlighting suggestions.  No one knows what will be on the test ahead of time so spending hours tabbing and highlighting is irrelevant and time consuming.  To pass the test, all you need to know is how to find the answers and using our practice test will help you.

The majority of state licensing exams are designed as OPEN BOOK assessments, indicating that success is not contingent on rote memorization. Instead, the aptitude to swiftly locate answers holds greater significance than committing content to memory. We firmly hold the belief that our Practice Exams serve a dual purpose: not only will they enhance your familiarity with the subject matter at hand, but they will also cultivate your proficiency in promptly and effectively retrieving answers from any reference material.
