The problem can be resolved simply by turning off the power and replacing the blown fuse or by resetting the circuit breaker. If the fuse continues to blow, or breaker continues to trip, then the splice connections should be tested.

Regardless if the lighting circuits are 15-amp or 20-amp, the total will be the same.

The fuse should be checked to be sure it is screwed in tightly. If the inside of the fuse glass is darkened, or if the fuse blows or breaker trips immediately when the circuit it turned on, it is likely there is a short circuit.

Communication, radio and television coaxial cables within the scope of Articles 800-820, shall be permitted at a height of not less than 10 feet above swimming and wading pools, diving structures and observation stands, towers or platforms. NEC Section 680.8(B).

Earth grounding systems help carry away unexpected electrical charges from other sources, and help dump static electrical charges. Large lightning strikes will not be dissipated by a house grounding system.

The junction box or power source switch must be opened, and the splice- connections tested. If no current is detected at the connection, the wires should be untwisted and reconnected. If this does not correct the problem, the problem may be assumed to be further back in the circuit.

A lighting and appliance branch-circuit panelboard is one having more than 10 percent of its overcurrent devices rated 30 amperes or less, for which branch-circuit grounded-conductor connections are provided. NEC Section 408.14(A)

Small houses with electric heat or larger houses without electric heat but which have more than the average number of appliances may use 125-amp or 150-amp services.

The length of wire runs must be checked and compared to the manufacturer’s recommendations. If wire runs are too long, fixtures should be redistributed or the layout changed to shorten the wire runs.

Wattages of all fixtures and appliances on the circuit should be added up and compared to the maximum allowable wattage on the circuit. If the total is over the maximum allowable wattage, some fixtures should be relocated to other circuits. If the total wattage is within capacity, there should be a check done to determine if there is a short circuit.

The white wire of each 12-volt branch circuit is connected to the incoming neutral at the neutral busbar in the service equipment or panelboard. All the load may possibly be thrown on only one of the two hot wires if care is not taken when connecting the hot wires of the branch circuits so they are divided approximately equally between the two incoming hot wires.

NEC Section 410.30(A) limits these dimensions to 16 inches. That is, any dimension-diameter, length, or width- must not exceed 16 inches if the fixture’s only support is the screw shell of the lampholder.

Equipment grounding wires from the house are grouped and bonded in the distribution panel, and bonded to the house neutral at the service box. The neutral and ground terminals are bonded according to the box design. Some have a removable bonding or jumper screw.

NEC Section 422.13 requires all branch circuits feeding a fixed storage-type water heater having a capacity of 120 gallons or less to have a rating not less than 125 percent of the nameplate rating of the water heater.
